Please see Pay Grade Table at: Occupational Category Skilled Craft Department Facilities Management - Facilities Services Division Division of Finance and Operations Open Date 05/12/2026 Open Until Filled No Educational And Experience Requirement High school graduate with four years of experience at a maintenance electrician level or experience in a related field. Must be licensed as a Journeyman electrician by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or must obtain license within one year from date of hire. Technical/vocational training related to job duties would be helpful. A combination of education, experience and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered. Nature & Purpose Of Position Performs advanced maintenance service of electrical equipment and systems for buildings and facilities. Responsibilities Repairs, installs, replaces, cleans, inspects, and performs preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment. Tests electrical circuits, motors, equipment, appliances, lights, outlets, switches, breakers, sockets, plugs, insulators, switchgear, and transformers. Performs general electrical maintenance in commercial buildings and facilities in accordance with the National Electric Code using blueprints and diagrams rated at 480 Volts (AC) three phase and lower. Installs computer and telephone lines. Troubleshoots and repairs low voltage control circuits and systems. Assists with ordering materials and parts. Uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System with work orders to allocate time and document work on a daily basis. Performs other related duties as assigned. Other Specifications Must be able to use various types of tools of the trade (e.g., ladders, hand tools, multi-meters, saws, conduit benders, etc.). Work environment may include exposure to electrical hazards, weather elements, dust, noise, and confined spaces. May require climbing, kneeling, bending, and lifting; work in mechanical and plant rooms; occasional on-call or extended hours during emergencies or peak periods as determined by the department. Position requires driving and operating a university vehicle; a valid Texas driver license and driving record acceptable to the university’s insurance carrier are required. A valid Texas CDL may be required. Work Schedule & Benefits During emergencies, operational failures, and peak use periods, employee may be called in when off shift to work extended hours.
