Corporate Controller

Overview This role oversees all Managing General Agency (MGA) reporting requirements, ensures statutory standards and requirements are met, and reports directly to the President & CEO. Responsibilities Sole management responsibility over the accounting team (currently 4 members). Oversee and manage the company’s general ledger system. Oversee company’s banking relationship and established controls. Participate in the development and implementation of cost‑effective financial reporting tools. Formulate effective financial oversight and internal accounting standards and controls which comply with company, legislative and regulatory requirements. Contribute to the achievement of business objectives through the accurate and timely identification and resolution of accounting issues/opportunities. Direct the monthly internal reporting process and deliver accurate/timely monthly reports through effective utilization of all management information tools. Support external audit, including preparation of related footnotes and PBC exhibits. Ability to work well under pressure and independently, and meet strict corporate deadlines. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Prior experience in MGA accounting. Minimum of 15 years of accounting experience with a comprehensive knowledge of accounting, internal financial controls and financial tools. Minimum of 5 years of supervision/management. Public accounting background is a plus. Knowledge of statutory accounting a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. CPA or MBA is a plus. Working knowledge of Sapiens suite of accounting technologies a plus. Excellent oral and written communication, organization, analytical, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills. Excellent working knowledge of MS Office software programs, including MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and various databases.
