Location: Menlo Park (Family Residence) & Sunnyvale (Microschool Logistics)
Schedule : The Private Educator role is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM. The majority of the instruction hours will take place in the morning before 12 PM each day, with afternoon hours dedicated to support preparations. Full-time and Part-time hours are available for the right candidate.
Compensation : $60.00-$65.00/hr
Position Overview
A private family in Menlo Park is seeking a highly skilled, full-time Private Educator to provide specialized, individualized academic support for two children in 1st and 4th grade. This unique role blends private at-home tutoring in Language Arts and Reading with supplementary support from a mid-day microschool in Sunnyvale. The ideal candidate must be dedicated to creating an engaging, project-based learning environment tailored to neurodiverse needs.
Duties : Warm, engaged parents of two well-rounded elementary-aged children are seeking an experienced Private Educator to provide individualized academic support. This role involves daily one-on-one instruction in reading and writing for children at the Kindergarten and 3rd-grade levels, along with additional support in mathematics.
Both children have been diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia and require a patient, knowledgeable educator who can tailor instruction to their unique learning needs while fostering confidence, growth, and a love of learning.
The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the children's primary educators within their microschool program to ensure continuity and alignment of educational goals. In addition to direct instruction, the educator will serve as a trusted resource for parents, offering guidance, insight, and support in understanding and navigating their children's educational journey. Requirements : Ideal candidates will have extensive experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly those diagnosed with dyslexia and dysgraphia. Preference will be given to educators with specialized training or prior experience in reading and writing intervention, special education, resource support services, or private tutoring.
The successful candidate must be able to provide instruction both onsite in the family's home and within the children's microschool environment. Strong collaboration, communication, and the ability to adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs are essential.
Benefits : This position does not include medical benefits. Paid sick time will be accrued up to 40 hours per school year. Paid vacation time will include 11 paid days off during normal holiday schedules; New Years Eve, New Years, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and the days following Christmas before New Years.
