RN - PCU


Job Details:


• 12-hour variable day and night shifts, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• No block schedules or self-scheduling
• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• Standby/call requirement applies
• Unit has 30 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4, may stretch to 1:5 with sick call or added CNA support
• Common patient diagnoses include cardiac, NSTEMI, post cath lab, AFib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis
• Required skills include management of IV drips including nitroglycerin, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone
• Post cath lab experience is beneficial; arterial line experience appreciated but not required
• RNs are required to titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone
• Charge RNs take 2 patients; nurse aides available at a ratio of 1:10-12 depending on census
• RT equipment on unit includes CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow
• Telemetry monitors are GE brand; telemetry techs are available and read strips
• Floating may be required to Med/Surg or IMC overflow in ICU
• Scrub color requirement: Navy blue
• Unit-specific orientation up to 3 days
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), EKG Course
• BSN not required
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility


Facility:


This acute care facility operates a Progressive Care Unit providing specialized intermediate-level care for patients requiring close monitoring and complex medical management. The unit supports a wide range of cardiac and medical diagnoses with access to telemetry monitoring, respiratory therapy equipment, and a collaborative care team including charge nurses, nurse aides, and telemetry technicians. The facility utilizes Cerner as its electronic health record system and maintains high standards for patient care delivery.
