Job Summary

TMI Transportation is seeking an experienced and reliable Fleet Mechanic to maintain and repair our growing fleet of motorcoaches, minibuses, and support vehicles. The ideal candidate must have strong knowledge of both diesel and gasoline engines and hands-on experience working with motorcoach buses . This role also includes oversight of the wash crew to ensure fleet cleanliness and presentation standards are maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on fleet vehicles, including motorcoaches, minibuses, and vans
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues efficiently
• Conduct preventative maintenance (PMs), inspections, and safety checks
• Repair engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and HVAC systems
• Maintain accurate service records and logs for each vehicle
• Ensure all vehicles meet DOT and Texas safety standards
• Respond to road calls or emergency breakdowns when needed
• Work closely with operations team to minimize vehicle downtime
• Be available on-call for after-hours emergencies, breakdowns, and urgent repairs
• Supervise and manage the wash crew, ensuring all vehicles are cleaned, detailed, and maintained to company standards
• Coordinate wash schedules and ensure timely turnaround of vehicles for service

Requirements

• Minimum 3–5 years of mechanic experience (motorcoach or heavy-duty vehicles preferred)
• Strong knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines
• Experience working with motorcoach buses (Van Hool, MCI, etc.) preferred
• Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical systems
• Familiarity with DOT inspections and compliance
• Own tools preferred
• Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
• Willingness to be on-call and respond to emergency service needs
• Leadership ability to manage and oversee a wash crew
• Knowledge of diagnostic software/tools

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with fleet maintenance programs
• CDL with passenger endorsement (a plus)
• Welding or fabrication skills (a plus)
