We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Director of Retail Operations who will be responsible for the strategic leadership, operational management, and financial performance of Eggleston's retail and garden center and landscaping operations. This position oversees all aspects of retail sales, garden center operations, merchandising, landscaping services, marketing initiatives, customer engagement, inventory management, and workforce development. The Director ensures the successful integration of Eggleston's mission by creating meaningful employment and training opportunities for individuals served while driving revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and operational excellence. The Director serves as a key leader in developing business strategies, expanding market opportunities, cultivating community partnerships, and ensuring a high-quality customer experience across all retail and horticultural operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: The following duties and responsibilities represent the essential functions of this job that an individual must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation: Develop and implement short-term and long-term business strategies that support organizational goals and financial sustainability. Establish annual sales, revenue, profitability, and operational goals. Identify opportunities for business growth, market expansion, and new revenue streams. Analyze industry trends and customer needs to develop innovative retail and garden center offerings. Retail Operations Direct daily operations of the retail store, garden center, greenhouse, seasonal sales activities, and landscaping services. Ensure exceptional customer service standards are consistently delivered. Oversee merchandising, pricing strategies, inventory management, quoting, purchasing, and product displays. Maintain attractive, safe, and welcoming retail and outdoor environments. Ensure compliance with all organizational policies, safety requirements, and applicable regulations. Develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets. Monitor financial performance, sales trends, labor costs, and inventory levels. Prepare monthly and annual reports on operational and financial outcomes. Implement cost-control measures while maintaining quality standards. Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts to maximize value and profitability. Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, and performance management for assigned staff. Participate in recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and developing employees. Foster a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture. Ensure proper staffing levels to meet operational requirements. Promote employee engagement, accountability, and professional development. Mission Integration and Workforce Development Collaborate with Rehabilitation and Employment Services teams to provide meaningful training and employment opportunities. Support a person-centered approach to workforce participation for individuals served by Eggleston. Ensure retail and garden center activities align with organizational mission, values, and strategic objectives. Marketing and Community Relations Collaborate with Marketing and Development teams to promote retail and garden center operations. Develop and implement marketing campaigns, community outreach initiatives, events, and promotions. Build partnerships with local businesses, community organizations, and vendors. Represent Eggleston at community events, trade shows, and networking opportunities. Facility and Asset Management Oversee maintenance and appearance of retail buildings, greenhouses, equipment, vehicles, grounds, and landscaping assets. Ensure preventative maintenance programs are in place and followed. Monitor safety practices and workplace conditions. Compliance and Reporting Maintain accurate records related to sales, inventory, services, staffing, and operational performance. Prepare reports and presentations for executive leadership as requested. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive organizational and personnel information. Perform other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION, & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Horticulture, Retail Management, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Five (5) years of progressive management experience in retail, garden center, nursery, landscaping, or related operations. Three (3) years of supervisory experience with responsibility for multiple employees and operational functions. Experience managing budgets, inventory, purchasing, and financial performance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and retail point-of-sale systems. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Successful completion of background screening and drug screening requirements. Preferred Qualifications Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations. Knowledge of horticulture, greenhouse management, plant care, or landscaping operations. Experience supporting workforce development or employment programs for individuals with disabilities. Experience with marketing, social media, and community engagement strategies. Physical Requirements Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, push, pull, and reach for extended periods. Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to operate vehicles, equipment, and computer systems as required. Working Conditions Combination of office, retail, greenhouse, garden center, warehouse, and outdoor work environments. Occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required. Local travel to vendor sites, customer locations, and community events may be necessary.
