Overview GNC’s Store Manager in Training (SMIT) is a development-focused role designed to prepare an individual to manage their own store. Under the leadership of a Store Manager or District Manager, the program provides hands-on training to operate a store, drive for results, and develop a team, with the goal of promotion to a Store Manager position. What You'll Do This is a Full-Time Hourly Supervisory Position. As a SMIT, you will lead, coach, and support your team to provide exceptional service while representing the GNC brand and promoting the "Live Well" message. Engage with your leader in training initiatives, projects, and goals to support your path to promotion during the program. Support the total shopping experience, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and customer relationships that lead to sales and repeat business (e.g., MYGNC Rewards). Achieve and exceed personal sales and productivity goals while helping sales associates realize their sales potential. Build strong teams and demonstrate leadership and managerial skills, including providing feedback, recruiting, hiring, and performance management. Open, close, and operate the retail facility, including cash handling, inventory counts, and deposits per GNC procedures. Engage with community events to promote the organization’s mission and initiatives. Selection for the SMIT position does not guarantee promotion. At the end of 90 days, performance will be assessed to determine eligibility for promotion to Store Manager, based on factors such as performance, openings, and willingness to accept a promotion at any location in the designated market. Environmental Factors & Working Schedule Must be able to stand or walk for up to eight hours a day. Frequent reaching, bending, and twisting (below waist and above shoulders). Repetitive hand-to-finger motions; use of hands and arms. Regular lifting up to 20 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 40 pounds; push/pull up to 20 pounds. Ability to climb ladders, reach, and bend. Work in temperatures ranging from 50 to 85 degrees, especially in stock areas. Use of a computer up to 60% of the day. SMITs are expected to work five (5) days per week (40 hours) and follow the schedule requirements below: SMITs in mall and strip center stores must work at least two weeknights (until closing), one weekend night, and one additional night. Strip center SMITs must work a full shift on Saturdays. Mall SMITs should work peak business days including weekends (Saturday and Sunday). SMITs should work a minimum of one full Sunday per month. Downtown stores: work during lunch (11am–2pm) Monday through Friday and one weeknight if the store is open in the evening; Saturdays are not required for downtown stores. SMITs are expected to work all major U.S. holidays when the store is open.
