Industrial Maintenance Technician

Piper Companies is seeking a Industrial Maintenance Technician to support a leading pharmaceutical manufacturing client. This role will focus on startup, commissioning, qualification, and mechanical readiness activities for critical process and utility systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. The Industrial Maintenance Technician will work alongside engineers and commissioning teams to bring new systems online, perform mechanical troubleshooting, support system testing and calibrations, and ensure equipment is operating safely and effectively. This is a long-term W2 contract opportunity requiring 5 days/week onsite in Holly Springs, NC. The position offers a highly visible role supporting a major pharmaceutical startup project with opportunities to gain valuable CQV and manufacturing experience. Responsibilities of the Industrial Maintenance Technician Support commissioning and qualification activities for bioreactors, water systems, process equipment, and utility systems. Perform mechanical troubleshooting and repairs, including correcting system deficiencies, repairing leaks, and verifying valve positions. Execute system walkdowns and verify equipment installation against P&IDs and design documentation. Assist with equipment calibrations and functional testing to ensure systems are ready for operation. Support the integration and startup of automated systems by ensuring mechanical and process equipment are functioning properly. Work closely with engineers, mechanics, and CQV personnel to identify and resolve startup and commissioning issues. Utilize hand and power tools to perform equipment adjustments, repairs, and system modifications as needed. Participate in commissioning, turnover, startup, and qualification activities to support project milestones. Maintain compliance with site safety requirements and industry best practices. Document completed activities and communicate system status updates to project stakeholders. Qualifications of the Industrial Maintenance Technician High school diploma or equivalent required. No college degree required. Experience performing mechanical maintenance, commissioning, qualification, construction, industrial maintenance, or related field work. Ability to read and walk down P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams). Experience using common hand and power tools. Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands‑on, field‑based work. Understanding of piping systems, valves, pumps, and process equipment preferred. Pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, or regulated manufacturing experience preferred. Ability to work safely in an active construction and startup environment. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and commissioning teams. Open to candidates with a few years of experience as well as seasoned professionals. Software or automation experience is not required. Willingness to complete site‑provided training, including scissor lift certification.
