Direct Support Professional - Morrisville, NY

Job Overview Mentor (DSP/1:1 Support Staff) – Part‑time, located in Morrisville, NY. Supports a gifted young man with a developmental disability by encouraging independent living skills, communication, social interaction, and community recreation. Responsibilities Teach and model independent living, communication, and social interaction skills. Assist the client in accessing social, recreational, and physical fitness opportunities in the community. Maintain accurate electronic logs of daily time, mileage, and service documentation. Provide direct support, and when applicable, indirect/training support. Work Hours Friday: 12 PM – 5 PM Saturday or Sunday: flexible hours as needed Compensation Direct support: $20.30 per hour. Indirect/training support: $16.00 per hour. Mileage reimbursed at the IRS standard mileage reimbursement rate for transportation to the client. Qualifications Minimum 18 years of age. Valid email address. Valid driver’s license and auto insurance if required. Sound decision‑making and patience. Commitment to person‑centered services, self‑advocacy, and the right to self‑direct supports. Strong communication, organizational, and basic reasoning skills. Ability to read and comprehend instructions; ability to write correspondence. Tolerance of moderate noise levels and ability to handle distractions. Physical capability to sit, stand, reach, walk, push or lift up to 50 pounds. GED or high school diploma preferred; related work experience preferred. Background check required.
