RN Cardiac Cath EP Lab Pre-Op Recovery

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse in the Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab Holding Area provides specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac and vascular procedures. This role involves pre-procedure preparation, post-procedure recovery, and Phase I/II PACU-level care, focusing on patients with coronary artery disease, structural heart disease, peripheral vascular disease, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failure. The nurse performs patient assessments, education, procedural support, hemodynamic monitoring, and moderate sedation recovery in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment dedicated to excellent patient outcomes. Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
• Provide post-procedure recovery and monitoring, including hemodynamic and telemetry assessments.
• Administer moderate sedation and manage acute and non-acute clinical situations.
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures and recovery processes.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and patient records.
• Support procedural teams during interventions as needed.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology Lab or CVICU/Cardiac Care.
• Telemetry monitoring skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Recent experience specifically in Cath Lab and EP Lab procedures.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic health record system in the specialty area.

Special Considerations:

• Work involves care for critically ill cardiac patients requiring telemetry and hemodynamic monitoring.
• Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary procedural environment.
• Occasional weekend shifts may be required based on unit needs.

Scheduling:

• 40 hours per week, typically four 10-hour day shifts.
• Rotation includes daytime shifts with occasional weekend coverage as needed.
