District Bus Mechanic
Preferred knowledge in software diagnostics which include Navistar, Cummins Insite, and Diamond Logic This position comes with full paid medical, dental, life insurance and retirement through PEERS. It is a 12 month position that includes paid sick days, holidays and vacation.
Job Summary
To assist in providing a safe, efficient, and fully operational bus fleet as called for by the job description, administrative direction, and Board Policy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintains confidentiality.
2. Develops and follows a schedule for providing basic maintenance to the district's bus fleet.
3. Responds to driver reports of bus functioning problems promptly.
4. Demonstrates the ability to locate and correct potential mechanical problems among the district's bus fleet prior to their being reported.
5. Demonstrates the ability to correctly repair most mechanical problems on a district school bus.
6. Works with part vendors to secure necessary parts at the most competitive pricing.
7. Ensures that the district fleet is in compliance with all state requirements when inspection occurs.
8. Maintains the district's facilities, tools, and equipment in good order.
9. Assists with driving or other transportation related tasks as requested by the Director of Transportation or Superintendent of Schools.
10. Assists with weather related decisions by observing designated roadways during or before inclement weather.
11. Assists with route formulation before and during the school year.
12. Represents the district with transportation related issues in the absence of the Director of Transportation.
13. Demonstrates proper patience and sensitivity with students of all backgrounds and abilities.
14. Conducts self as a professional representative of the Warren Co R III District at all times.
15. Other related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience
1. High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
2. Must have knowledge of gas and diesel engines, and general bus repair.
3. Must have CDL and Missouri Bus Driver Permit.
4. Preferred Experience of 5 years repairing and maintaining school busses (or similar positions)
Communication Skills
1. Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, and interact effectively with all aspects of the school community is required.
2. Ability to solve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and remain open to various ideas and viewpoints.
Mathematical Skills
1. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percentages.
Reasoning Ability
1. Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines while complying with established policies and procedures of the building and district.
2. Identifies and resolve problems in a timely manner, gathers and analyzes information skillfully; uses reason even when dealing with emotional topics.
3. Ability to concentrate, think, read and learn is necessary to perform the essential job duties.

1. Demonstrate organizational ability and attention to detail.
2. Ability to provide assistance to the school community as necessary.
3. Ability to work independently.
4. Excellent human relation skills.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, talk, listen, and respond. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, precise hand eye coordination and the ability to identify and distinguish colors. Occasionally, the employee will lift up to 50 pounds or more, such as, to lift files, papers and equipment.
