Position Overview:

The Construction Control Inspector serves as a technical consultant to the contracting office and engineering flight, providing construction expertise for planning, design interpretation, and resolution of field issues on assigned projects. This role performs inspection and surveillance of complex construction projects to confirm contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements monitoring schedules and sequencing, interpreting plans in the field, verifying materials and workmanship, and reviewing field conditions against specifications to recommend and coordinate necessary changes with Government engineers and contracting personnel. The Inspector examines materials and equipment delivered and installed on-site, obtains samples for testing, documents non-compliant items, participates in pre-final and final inspections, and tracks corrective actions through project acceptance, while maintaining detailed documentation including daily inspection logs, safety observations, formal inspection reports, and records of field changes to ensure a complete, auditable record of construction performance. Candidates must have at least 3 years of extensive construction and/or contract-related experience along with a degree in construction management or construction technology, knowledge of construction inspection practices for building materials, workmanship, and system installations, familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of major construction projects, proficiency in industry inspection and safety practices, the ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural plans, working knowledge of construction trades and applied mathematics, and effective oral and written communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:

• Serves as a technical consultant to the contracting office and engineering flight, providing construction expertise to support planning, design interpretation, and resolution of field issues on assigned projects.
• Performs inspection and surveillance of complex construction projects to confirm contractor compliance with approved plans, specifications, and contract requirements. This includes monitoring construction schedules and sequencing, interpreting plans and details in the field, and verifying the acceptability of materials and workmanship before recommending acceptance.
• Reviews plans and specifications against actual field conditions and safety requirements, recommending changes when necessary and coordinating proposed revisions with Government engineers and contracting personnel. Must independently identify and document problems and conflicts regarding interpretation of plans and specifications and must work with contractors and the Government to resolve those issues within the limits of delegated authority.
• Inspect materials and equipment delivered and installed on-site, obtain samples for testing when required, and reject or document non-compliant items in accordance with contract requirements and Government direction. Must participate in pre-final and final inspections and support project acceptance discussions by identifying deficiencies, tracking corrective actions, and verifying completion.
• Will prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including daily inspection logs, safety observations, formal inspection reports, non-conformance documentation, and records of discussions, decisions, and field changes, so that the Government has a complete, auditable record of construction performance and contract compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Extensive construction and/or contract-related experience of at least 3 years and a degree in construction management or construction technology.
• Knowledge of construction inspection practices and procedures for building materials, workmanship, utilities, and system installations.
• Familiarity with electrical, mechanical, and structural aspects of major construction projects.
• Proficiency in construction industry inspection and safety practices and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural plans and specifications.
• Working knowledge of construction trades and applied mathematics, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
