The ideal candidate is flexible, dependable, and able to adapt quickly to different grade levels, subject areas, and classroom settings. Substitute Teachers play an important role in supporting student learning, upholding school expectations, and contributing to the overall continuity of the educational program. 2025-2026 Substitute Teacher Pay Rates Uncertified Substitute = $150.00 per day New York State Certified Substitute = $180.00 per day Special Requirement for Appointment in School DISTRICTS/BOCES Per regulations of the Commissioner of Education, to be employed in a position designated by a school district or BOCES as involving direct contact with students, a clearance for employment (fingerprinting) from the State Education Department is required.
