Registered Nurse ( Inpatient Psych, Psych Emergency Assignments)

Bargaining Unit: CNA - Registered Nurses Unit Location & Scope Contra Costa County Health Services Department offers a variety of opportunities for Registered Nurses. Facilities include the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center (CCRMC) in Martinez—a full‑service acute hospital with an acute psychiatric unit—as well as nine outpatient health centers throughout the county, detention facilities, and a juvenile hall. Assignments Inpatient Psych, Psych Emergency. Responsibilities Follow MD orders to administer intravenous therapy and other prescribed medication and treatments. Prepare equipment and assist physician during procedures, treatment, and examination of patients. Assess patient needs, identify problems, plan and implement appropriate nursing interventions, evaluate patient care outcomes, document all interactions, and report significant deviations or abnormal findings to physicians. Assign ancillary personnel. Orient, precept, and mentor new and entry‑level nurses for problem solving and decision making. Identify urgent patient needs and initiate measures to meet them. Provide directions to other nursing team members to ensure thorough, safe, and evidence‑based patient care. Provide and promote excellent customer service for all internal and external customers. Perform physical assessments and plan, implement, and evaluate care. Perform case management. Monitor laboratory tests. Document all care provided. Identify actual and potential problems, intervene, and report related issues to appropriate disciplines. Coordinate patient care and participate in patient/family teaching and discharge planning. Address the physiological, psychological, socio‑cultural, and spiritual needs of all patients. Perform medication management. Provide ongoing patient education. Participate in quality improvement projects. Engage in continuous learning and evidence‑based research. May act as a Relief Charge Nurse. License Required (All Assignments) Candidates must possess and maintain a current, valid and unrestricted Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing for the duration of employment. Special Requirements (All Assignments) For Detention Health Services assignments, a security clearance approved and issued by the Sheriff’s Department is required. For Perioperative unit assignments, availability to provide off‑shift coverage is required. Acute Care Requirements (All Acute Care Assignments) One (1) year of full‑time experience, or its equivalent, performing registered nurse duties in an acute care setting obtained in the United States within the last five (5) years. Certification Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider). Substitution for Experience Possession of a BSN and six (6) months of experience as a Beginning Level Registered Nurse working in an acute care hospital may substitute for the 1‑year experience requirement. Inpatient Psychiatry and Psychiatric Emergency Services Assignment – Special Requirements Must possess and maintain a CCCRMC‑approved Crisis Management and Prevention certificate. Additional Requirements by Assignment A background investigation, fingerprinting, and/or physical examination may be required prior to the start of employment.
