About the Position

Job Title: Clinical Nurse (RN) Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of three years acute care experience required License: Current RN License Certifications: AHA BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: ICU experience, Registered Nurse Description: The Clinical Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, effective, quality nursing care. The RN utilizes Jean Watson's Theory of Caring and Relationship Based Care. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for all assigned patients. The RN makes determinations regarding patient progress toward goals. The RN utilizes therapeutic professional relationships with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team. Care is provided according to specific physiological, developmental, and psychosocial needs of the patient. The RN supports the mission, vision, values, and expectations of excellence within the organization. Competence is demonstrated through the application of the nursing process. The RN provides care consistent with the interdisciplinary plan of care. The RN assesses patients’ physical and psychosocial conditions on an ongoing basis. The RN formulates nursing diagnoses through observation and interpretation of information. The RN collaborates with patients to formulate care plans ensuring safety and comfort. The RN performs essential nursing skills, explains treatment to patients and families, and teaches health care needs. The effectiveness of care plans is evaluated through patient observation and communication. The RN maintains a current working knowledge of equipment, instrumentation, and medications. The RN delegates tasks appropriately based on team member capabilities. The RN acts as an advocate for patients to improve health care and to respect patient choices. The RN provides culturally competent and ethical care within legal standards of practice. The RN coordinates patient care activities with all team members. Effective communication skills are utilized to facilitate safe patient handoffs. Nursing care is documented per hospital policies. The RN uses information systems to enhance productivity. The RN is accountable for meeting unit and organizational goals. Positive patient care experiences are contributed through interactions with patients and families. The RN assists in resolving complaints with immediate attention when possible. Physical demands include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, sitting, standing, walking, kneeling, twisting, reaching, and fine motor skills. Completion of annual organizational requirements for employment is required.
