Job Title: Manual Machinist (2nd & 3rd Shift) – Precision Manufacturing

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46201 (Onsite)

Shifts Available:

• 2nd Shift: 3:30 PM – 11:00 PM
• 3rd Shift: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  
  Openings: 2 per shift

Job Overview

We are hiring experienced Manual Machinists to support precision machining and fabrication operations in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on producing high-accuracy components using manual machining equipment while interpreting blueprints and ensuring tight tolerances. Candidates must have strong hands-on machining experience and be comfortable working independently on assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, grinders, drill presses, welders, and balancing equipment
• Perform machining operations including turning, milling, threading, boring, drilling, grinding, and dynamic balancing
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to produce precision parts
• Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, etc.) to verify dimensions and tolerances
• Perform welding and metal finishing tasks as needed (MIG, TIG, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene, metal spray processes)
• Record measurements, calculations, and production data according to company standards
• Maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required (technical certificate or associate degree preferred)
• 3+ years of experience as a Manual Machinist or equivalent hands-on machining experience
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
• Strong understanding of machining math (fractions, decimals, tolerances, measurements)
• Experience using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in non-standard machining situations
• Effective communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team

Must Have Skills

• Hands-on experience operating manual lathes, mills, grinders, and drill presses
• Proven ability to read blueprints and produce parts to tight tolerances

Preferred Qualifications

• Technical certificate or associate degree in mechanical or electrical field
• Experience in tool & die, heavy fabrication, or CNC machining with manual setup exposure
• Familiarity with traditional/manual setup methods using gauges and adjustments

Work Location & Schedule

• Onsite role in Indianapolis, IN 46201
• Must be available for 2nd or 3rd shift work
• Reliable transportation required due to shift hours
• Local candidates strongly preferred (within ~30–45 minute commute; surrounding areas include Carmel, Fishers, Greenwood, Plainfield, Speedway, Beech Grove, Brownsburg, Avon, Zionsville)
