About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of Advancement for the West Coast. This senior leadership role is pivotal in driving the philanthropic growth and engagement strategy for the region. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and leading a comprehensive advancement strategy, building a robust philanthropic network, and personally managing a significant portfolio of major and principal gift prospects. The role demands a leader with a deep understanding of the West Coast philanthropic and business landscape, the ability to identify and engage new sources of wealth and influence, and a proven track record in raising substantial funds. The Executive Director will also lead a regional advancement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and high performance. Applicants for the Executive Director position should have at least 10 years of successful development experience, with a preference for those with a background in higher education or a complex, mission-driven environment. The role requires a candidate with a bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred) and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. The ideal candidate will have a history of personally cultivating and closing seven-figure gifts, as well as the ability to translate institutional priorities into compelling philanthropic opportunities. A highly collaborative style, executive presence, and the ability to work across organizational boundaries are essential. The Executive Director will also be expected to have a strong belief in the vision of the company as a New American University and a passion for its mission.
