The skills of software engineers are called upon when operational problems are encountered with computer programs and applications. System Administrator To ensure that the performance of the systems he or she manages meets the needs of the users, a system administrator may acquire, install, or upgrade computer components and software; provide routine automation; maintain security policies; troubleshoot; train or supervise staff; and/or offer technical support for projects. System Architect System architects devise, build and maintain networking and computer systems. Communication is a key skill for system architects; job duties for this position include ensuring that client and company needs are met, offering technical support and creating installation instructions for users. Systems Engineer Systems Engineer responsibilities include managing and monitoring all installed systems and infrastructure, installing, configuring, testing and maintaining operating systems, application software and system management tools. Systems Integrator A systems integrator specializes in bringing together component subsystems into a whole and ensuring that those subsystems function together.
