Surgical RN Preoperative Postoperative PACU

Job Summary:

The Surgical Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to patients with varying acuities across all age groups in preoperative, postoperative, and PACU settings. The RN evaluates nursing processes, documents findings in the electronic medical record, collaborates with ancillary staff, and communicates with providers and coworkers regarding patient conditions. The role covers multiple specialties including General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN, Endoscopy, and Pain Management. Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to surgical patients in preoperative, postoperative, and PACU phases.
• Evaluate and document nursing assessments and patient progress in the EMR.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members including ancillary staff and providers to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Monitor patient conditions and communicate changes promptly to the healthcare team.
• Support pain management and specialty-specific care as needed.
• Maintain patient safety and comfort throughout surgical care processes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 3 years nursing experience, preferably in surgical or acute care settings.
• Proficient in patient assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Strong communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Experience in specialties such as Urology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, OB/GYN, Endoscopy, or Pain Management.

Special Considerations:

• On-call requirement: one night per week and one weekend per month.
• Possible holiday on-call coverage.
• Work in a fast-paced surgical environment requiring adaptability and critical thinking.

Scheduling:

• Day shift from 06:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
• Shift assignments include preoperative, postoperative, and PACU care.
