Soils Technician

Sage Geotechnical, LLC (Sage), a Tumwater-based geotechnical engineering firm, is seeking a full-time soil technician to complete laboratory testing and fieldwork. The approximate starting wage will be $25.00-$35.00 per hour, based on applicant’s qualifications.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma (or GED). Additional education or job experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license for travel to and from job sites.
• Proficiency in mathematics at an Algebra level.
• The ability to work independently at job sites and to communicate effectively with subcontractors and construction foremen/superintendents.
• The ability to read, write, and speak in English.
• The ability to work in office/on site.
• The ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
• The attention to detail needed to document field activities, observations, and test results in concise logs/reports.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• The aptitude to complete job-specific certifications and training.
• Familiarity with ASTM International standard test methods is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Performing soil laboratory testing.
• Documenting field activities, observations, and test results.
• Confirming that construction activities conform with the project plans and specifications.
• Communicating test results to the geotechnical project manager and the general contractor.
• Assisting with day-to-day business operations.
