About Elevate NC State’s Inclusive Postsecondary Education Program, has enrolled its third cohort of participants. Administratively housed in the College of Education, Elevate is a university-wide initiative designed for North Carolina residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and will offer educational credentials, such as certificates. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis. Other Required Qualifications Knowledge of effective practices for teaching and supporting individuals with disabilities, including inclusive practices, person-centered planning, and self-determination, interpersonal communication, independent living, and career development strategies Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and university staff to support students in achieving their personal goals. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Counseling or Social Work Experience in teaching, counseling or advising students with IDD in a postsecondary setting. Familiarity with transition planning, exit planning, in the context of college for students with IDD. Knowledge of the intersection of mental health and developmental disabilities.
