Branch Manager

Overview Manages all activities of a branch. Responsible for the overall success of the branch operating model, including customer and employee experience, digital engagement, transactions/operations, servicing, and sales. Has personal production responsibility. Responsibilities Overall profitability by directing sales and business development, meeting operational objectives, and ensuring annual goals are achieved. Lead the team through coaching, performance management, and setting priorities. Build and develop branch staff; conduct interviews and select employees according to staffing model. Identify retail and business banking customer needs through the M&T sales processes, using tools and resources to provide short‑and‑long‑term solutions. Proactively prospect and grow business banking relationships through outreach and community presence. Model and coach customer‑service and needs‑determination behaviors, reinforcing compliance with operational, security, and control policies. Ensure compliance with operational, consumer, and business banking guidelines, preventing fraud and protecting customer assets. Own complex account servicing and error‑resolution issues, guiding staff to reduce future escalations. Engage with team members and business partners as appropriate. Process business banking loan requests up to $250,000 independently, bundling products and services as suitable. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and handling regulator issues. Report to the Retail Regional Manager and lead the branch team to achieve annual sales and profitability goals. Stay current on operational, product, and system changes/enhancements and demonstrate good risk‑management decisions. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (four years of relevant experience). Minimum three years of sales experience. Minimum two years of managerial experience or proven leadership abilities. Licensing: Life/Accident and Health Insurance licenses required within 18 months of hire; M&T Business Banking Specialist license required within 18 months. Strong knowledge of business banking products, services, and client relationship management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic PC software. Internet and email experience preferred. Demonstrated sales/business‑development experience and success; fundamental understanding of profitability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to coach exceptional customer service. Professional interaction with all levels of personnel and business partners. Strong organization, time‑management, and prioritization skills. Preferred: M&T Way Certified Precision Leadership, Bilingual/Spanish proficiency. Location: Spring Lake, New Jersey, United States of America Pay range: $75,900.00 - $126,500.00 Annual (USD).
