Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Clinical Pharmacist Technician performs essential tasks that ensure seamless pharmacy operations and optimal patient outcomes. This role involves critical thinking and precise execution in a dynamic clinical environment.

• Performs Medication Reconciliation , accurately comparing patient medication lists to ensure continuity of care.
• Utilizes Electronic Health Records (EHR) to access and document patient information, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.
• Assists with Medication Dispensing , preparing and labeling prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
• Prepares Sterile Compounding products following strict aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
• Manages Inventory Management , monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and ensuring proper storage of medications.
• Supports Patient Education by providing clear, concise information about medications and their proper use.
• Retrieves Drug Information for pharmacists and healthcare providers, ensuring access to current and accurate data.
• Maintains Clinical Documentation , accurately recording all relevant patient and medication information.
• Provides Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) Support , assisting with sample collection and documentation for drug level assessments.
• Contributes to Pharmacy Operations , supporting daily workflows and ensuring efficient service delivery.

Required Qualifications
Education

• Holds a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possesses current Pharmacy Technician certification (CPhT) or relevant state registration/licensure.

Experience

• Demonstrates previous experience working in a pharmacy setting.

Knowledge/Skills

• Understands Medication Reconciliation processes and best practices.
• Proficient in Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Applies knowledge of safe Medication Dispensing practices.
• Familiar with Sterile Compounding techniques and regulations.
• Executes Inventory Management principles effectively.
• Communicates effectively to support Patient Education initiatives.
• Accesses and interprets Drug Information Retrieval resources.
• Maintains precise Clinical Documentation .
• Supports Therapeutic Drug Monitoring (TDM) protocols .
• Possesses a strong understanding of general Pharmacy Operations .
• Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Works collaboratively within a team environment.
• Adapts quickly to changing priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Holds an Associate's degree in a related field.
• Possesses experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting.
• Achieves advanced certification in sterile compounding.

Physical Requirements/Work Conditions

• Stands and walks for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds .
• Performs repetitive motions, including keyboarding and medication preparation.
• Works in a healthcare environment with potential exposure to medications and chemicals.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Pharmacy. Pharm .D. preferred but not required.

Experience: 2-3 years hospital pharmacy experience preferred, but not required.

Licensure: Current indiana Pharmacist lioense.

Skills: Ability to work independently and to perform work accurately with attention to detail and within specified time periods. Ability to handle stress appropriately. Ability to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff. Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule. Ability to set priorities, solve problems, and respond quickly to emergency requests. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing). Ability to assist in meeting pharmaceutical care needs of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
