Description

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a hospital operating room supporting a variety of surgical specialties, requiring prior travel assignment experience.

Details

• Work in a 4-OR surgical services department with PreOp, PostOp, and PACU areas
• Adult and minimal pediatric case population averaging about 25 cases per day
• Case types include general surgery, urology, ENT, OBGYN, and orthopedics including total joints
• Endoscopy cases performed without required prior experience
• No robotics or conscious sedation cases performed
• Weekday schedule of 10-hour shifts with a rotating day off, operating hours Monday-Friday 0700-1730
• Call required 6-7 shifts per month including weekday and rotating weekend coverage with a 20-minute response time
• May float to inpatient areas in a task/helping hands capacity without assuming a patient assignment
• Cerner EMR used, IV pumps by Alaris, and medication dispensing via Pyxis

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience required, 5 years preferred
• BLS certification required
• CST certification required
• License required if applicable
• Comfortable with open abdominal cases and willing to be trained in c-sections if no OB/C-section experience
• Willing to be trained in total joints, podiatry, or endoscopy cases if not previously experienced
• At least one prior travel assignment required

Additional Information

• Support provided by a Supervisor, Charge RN, resource nurses, OR Educator, CRNAs, anesthesiologist, respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and phlebotomy
• Anesthesia Tech assists with room turnover, and all staff help turn over rooms
• One week of orientation with a call buddy, working five 8-hour shifts during the first week
• On-call rotation typically scheduled about 6 weeks in advance with 1 sleep room available on a first-come basis
• Some holiday call coverage required if multiple holidays fall within the contract
• RTO requires manager approval
• Surgical scrubs provided and free parking available
• CRNA, RN, PA, and CST students present at the facility, but no residents
