Landscape Spray Technician

Job Summary The Landscaping Spray Technician will be responsible for the safe and effective application of fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and other chemical treatments to lawns, trees, and shrubs to ensure optimal plant health and pest control. This individual must have a strong understanding of chemical handling, safety protocols, and environmental regulations, and will work closely with other landscaping team members to maintain high-quality service standards across various client properties. Key Responsibilities Chemical Application Safely mix, prepare, and apply fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides to various landscaping elements, including lawns, shrubs, and trees, in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Ensure accurate and efficient chemical application using spray equipment, following best practices for proper coverage and dosage. Equipment Maintenance Inspect, maintain, and clean all equipment and tools used in chemical applications, including spray rigs, pumps, nozzles, and protective gear. Report any malfunctions, repairs, or replacement needs to the supervisor. Record‑Keeping Maintain accurate records of treatments applied, chemicals used, application rates, and any issues or concerns on each project. Comply with all documentation requirements for local regulatory bodies regarding chemical use and environmental safety. Customer Service Communicate with clients to explain the purpose of treatments, provide advice on lawn and plant care, and address any concerns or questions about service. Ensure professional and courteous interactions with all clients to maintain positive relationships. Health & Safety Compliance Adhere to all safety protocols when handling chemicals, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, masks, and coveralls. Conduct regular safety checks and ensure compliance with environmental safety regulations. Team Collaboration Work closely with other landscaping staff to coordinate schedules, share resources, and ensure smooth operations. Assist in other landscaping tasks when necessary, including lawn care, mulching, irrigation, and seasonal plantings. Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Certified Pesticide Applicator's License (or willingness to obtain within a specified time frame). Knowledge of proper pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer application techniques. Familiarity with common plant and lawn diseases, weeds, and pests. Ability to operate and maintain spraying equipment and other landscaping tools. Preferred Qualifications 1‑2 years of experience as a landscaping spray technician or similar role. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information to clients. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills. Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physical labor in various weather conditions. Work Environment Outdoor work environment, subject to various weather conditions. Regular exposure to chemicals and outdoor allergens. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required. Compensation Competitive salary based on experience.
