Shift: Variable / All Shifts
Rate of Pay: $29.50 per hour + $120.00 daily per diem for those who qualify
DESCRIPTION:
Hutco, Inc. is seeking experienced 1st Class Pipefitters for work in Newport News, Virginia. Candidates must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry .
Pipefitters will perform the fitting, fabrication, preparation, and installation of carbon steel, CRES (stainless steel), and copper-nickel piping and associated components in demanding shipboard and sub-assembly environments.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum 3 years of documented pipefitting experience in the marine, commercial nuclear, or petrochemical industry
• Ability to read and interpret ship piping drawings
• Experience fitting carbon steel, CRES, and copper-nickel piping
• Ability to perform piping end preparation by hand and/or using Wachs or Portsmouth machines
• Experience installing pipe hangers
• Ability to accurately measure using a ruler in inches and tenths
• Ability to prepare and fit backing rings
• Ability to clean-cut or break pipe using a grinder
• Ability to hand-prep V-bevels
• Experience fabricating piping details and assemblies from drawings
• Experience bending pipe using templates and hand benders
• Ability to fit welded socket fittings
• Ability to fit brazed joints with or without insert rings
PHYSICAL / WORK REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be able to work safely in a shipyard and shipboard environment and perform the physical requirements associated with first-class pipefitting assignments. Candidates must be available to work assigned shifts based on production needs.
