Vice President for University Personnel

The client seeks a strategic, visionary, and collaborative leader to serve as Vice President for University Personnel. Reporting to the president, the VPUP will provide executive-level oversight of Human Resources, Civil Rights and Compliance, and the Office of Culture and Institutional Excellence, supporting the university’s goal of becoming an employer of choice. Operating in a large, complex, and unionized public university environment, the VPUP will help ensure employees and learners are supported, engaged, and able to thrive. During a period of institutional evolution that may include enrollment growth and integration of related academic entities, the VPUP will drive university personnel strategy aligned with institutional priorities and aspirations. The VPUP will play a central role in attracting and retaining talented faculty and staff who reflect the demographics of the state, and in ensuring that financial and operational resources support growth. Responsibilities include developing and implementing university personnel policies and programs across employee relations, compensation, employee benefits, recruitment and retention, training and organizational development, performance management, and culture and belonging initiatives, with an emphasis on clear communication of HR goals and processes to the campus community in support of the university’s mission.
