Location: Topeka, KS Job Id: 1404 # of Openings: 1 Classification: Non-exempt Reporting Relationship: Reports to Pharmacy Director Supervision Responsibilities: No Essential Role: This position is responsible for dispensing drugs prescribed by GraceMed Providers and providing information to patients about medications and their use. This position is also responsible for advising Providers on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. Duties & Responsibilities Responsible for adhering to and maintaining protocols utilized by pharmacy support staff. Responsible for assisting with orientation and training of new pharmacy employees and reviews assigned pharmacy support staff quality of work at the direction of the Pharmacy Director. Verify the legality, safety and appropriateness of prescription orders, check the patient medication record before dispensing the prescription, ensure that the quantities of medication are dispensed accurately. Seek to collect and integrate information about the patient’s drug history, clarify the patient’s understanding of the intended dosage regimen and method of administration, and advise the patient of drug-related precautions. Compile and maintain information on all medicines, and particularly on newly introduced medicines, provide this information as necessary to our providers and to patients. Assure the timely and accurate filling of prescriptions and orders. Serves as preceptor to pharmacy support staff, pharmacy students and extended interns. Works closely with the providers and administrative staff to provide guidance and direction for best practices. Provides assistance with OSHA, emergency preparedness, infection control and regulatory compliance. Performs other appropriate duties as requested by supervisor. Qualifications Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations A Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or PharmD degree Current State of Kansas licensure Must not be on DEA Excluded Parties List Experience Previous medical office experience preferred. Previous public health experience preferred. Technical Skills Must possess a thorough knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment, including computers, copiers, and other standard office equipment. Ability to work independently, organize, monitor, and adjust work as necessary to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Demonstrated ability to identify and solve problems. Maintains appropriate licensure and certification including meeting and/or exceeding CME requirements. Must display good verbal and written communication skills and be able to professionally receive and follow oral instructions. Must be able to interact with staff at all levels. Courteous, honest and professional at all times. Work Schedule Monday thru Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Working Conditions Medical office setting. Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. Bending, stooping, and lifting (up to 50lbs.) may be required. Interaction with physicians, patients and other office personnel. May involve contact with angry, upset or ill persons. May involve potential exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous substances. Must have visual acuity and manual dexterity to interface with computer.
