Job Summary: The Diagnostic Imaging & Heart Care Manager provides clinical, operational, and strategic leadership for the Imaging and Heart Care departments, ensuring safe, high-quality, patient-centered care while achieving organizational, financial, and performance goals. This role is responsible for leading people, optimizing workflows, managing resources, ensuring regulatory and quality standards, and driving continuous improvement across both service areas. The manager partners with physicians, clinical teams, and organizational leaders to strengthen services, improve the patient experience, develop staff, and support the ongoing growth and success of Diagnostic Imaging and Heart Care.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited radiology program from an accredited college or university, required.
- Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field preferred.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a technologist, with two (2) years of supervisory experience, preferred.
- Certification and registration in an applicable clinical discipline, such as ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or other appropriate professional credential, required.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in diagnostic imaging, cardiovascular services, or a related healthcare environment.
Responsibilities include:
Leadership and Management:
- Supervise and lead Imaging and Heart Care staff, including technologists, clinical staff, and support personnel, while collaborating closely with radiologists, cardiologists, and other medical staff.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide professional development opportunities.
- Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and high morale.
- Develop staff competencies and cross-training opportunities to support departmental flexibility and operational resilience.
- Address performance and employee relations concerns promptly and in accordance with organizational policies.
Operational Oversight:
- Manage daily operations of the Imaging and Heart Care departments, ensuring efficient workflow and patient scheduling.
- Monitor patient access, throughput, turnaround times, staffing, productivity, and other key operational performance indicators.
- Monitor and oversee the readiness, safety, utilization, and lifecycle management of imaging and cardiac diagnostic equipment.
- Implement policies and procedures to enhance service delivery and patient experience.
- Ensure departmental workflows are standardized, efficient, and aligned with evidence-based practice and organizational expectations.
- Develop contingency plans for equipment failure, staffing shortages, and other operational disruptions that may affect patient care.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including those from state, federal, and accrediting bodies.
- Develop and oversee quality control measures and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- Analyze imaging and Heart Care reports and data to identify areas for improvement and implement changes as needed.
- Investigate patient safety events, quality concerns, and service issues and ensure appropriate follow-up and sustained corrective action.
Performance Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives designed to improve quality, efficiency, patient experience, access, and resource utilization.
- Use data, Lean principles, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methods to identify and address operational and clinical issues.
- Engage frontline staff in identifying problems, developing solutions, testing countermeasures, and sustaining improvements.
Financial Management:
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets, ensuring effective allocation of resources.
- Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality.
- Collaborate with administration on financial planning and resource allocation.
- Review budget performance and variances and develop action plans when performance is outside established expectations.
- Participate in capital planning and develop business cases for equipment, technology, staffing, and other departmental investments.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with physicians and healthcare teams to coordinate patient care and ensure effective communication regarding imaging results.
- Act as a liaison between the Imaging and Heart Care departments and other hospital departments, promoting collaborative efforts.
- Partner with organizational leaders to identify opportunities to expand, improve, or optimize diagnostic services.
Education and Training:
- Stay current with advancements in imaging technology and best practices.
- Provide training and educational resources for staff to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Educate patients and families about imaging procedures and safety protocols.

- Working knowledge of cardiovascular diagnostic services and applicable clinical standards.
