Our client is a global manufacturing firm that partners with their customers to provide differentiated paper and packaging solutions that help them win in the marketplace. They are in Atlanta and are seeking an AWS Systems Architect to join the team. Our client is comprised of passionate and dynamic IT Infrastructure professionals that plan, implement and support the deployment of critical systems, security, networks, databases and supporting infrastructure that enable Our client to maintain a highly responsive 24x7 operation. Through systems expertise, cloud technologies, automation, detailed problem solving and collaboration with the business, the Technology Platforms team leads the implementation and maintenance of large and complex solutions that run behind Our client 's business applications. The AWS Systems Architect is responsible for the design of Our client 's public and private cloud infrastructure that includes network, hardware, automation, database, security and cloud vendor partnerships. They provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from the strategic decision making down to the development level. The Cloud IT Architect leverages an in-depth understanding of the delivered service, technology landscape and interdependencies with the organization to design systems that meet business needs to be built, tested and deployed by Systems Engineers and Analysts.

How You Will Impact Our Client:

• Design and Analysis - 60%:
  • Researches and analyzes business trends and behavioral data to identify opportunities for improvements and new initiatives.
  • Evaluates, develops and recommends specific technology products and platforms to provide cost-effective solutions that meet business and technology requirements.
  • Researches and designs best fit infrastructure, network, database and security architectures for products and services.
  • Analyzes business requirements and technical specifications to propose changes to management and key stakeholders or design.
  • Designs test, technical, communication, training, support and deployment requirements to be built and deployed by engineers and analysts.
  • Designs field and corporate rollouts of technology.
  • Designs deployments of necessary system software, hardware and equipment (physical or virtual) to meet changing infrastructure needs.
  • Creates and optimizes specifications for complex technology solutions.
  • Creates technical white papers and provides thought leadership.
  • Designs, analyzes and improves processes.
  • Designs tools for proactive monitoring and support.
  • Designs maintenance, upgrades, and support for existing systems to ensure operational stability.
  • Designs scripts and tools that drive automation and enable product teams and end users to move towards self-service.
  • Creates and manages purchase requests for hardware and software.
  • Leverages tooling and custom applications to monitor the operational status of applications, infrastructure, networks, databases and security; optimizes and tunes performance as appropriate.
• Support and Enablement - 30%:
  • Collaborates with product and project teams to understand needs and enables them with infrastructure.
  • Leads technology architecture design review efforts for project and product teams.
  • Contributes subject matter expertise for project budgeting and planning, and across multiple efforts and teams.
  • Collaborates with other leaders to drive build-versus-buy decisions about technology.
  • Leads root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions.
  • Acts as a vendor relationship manager.
  • Creates and improves design and training documentation.
  • Monitors and participates in team discussions to proactively help teams struggling with systems issues.
  • Serves as a Tier 4 escalation point for incident response to support products in production.
  • Mentors Systems Engineers, Analysts and Administrators.
  • Supports configuration, debugging, and support.
  • Develops and delivers formal training courses.
  • Visits with operational units (e.g., mills, plants, warehouses, and data centers) to understand needs and build relationships.
• Learning - 10%:
  • Keeps abreast of innovations and industry trends as well as changes to internal systems and determines how they impact tools, training, and support necessary to keep systems up, running and secure.
  • Leads, participates in and contributes to learning activities around modern systems engineering core practices (communities of practice).
  • Leads learning efforts inside the organization focused on systems engineering.
  • Proactively views articles, tutorials, and videos to learn about new technologies and best practices being used within other technology organizations.

What You Need To Succeed:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or relevant work experience.
• 10+ years of overall IT experience.
• 5-7 years of experience with Cloud engineering. AWS experience preferred.
• Professional experience in all areas of Systems Engineering - Servers, Network, Database and Security; proficiency in at least 2 areas and mastery of at least 1.
• Mastery of working as part of a collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering team.
• Firm working knowledge in infrastructure, network, database and security troubleshooting and remediation; experience with at least one other.
• Proficiency in monitoring the operational status and performance of systems, networks or databases.
• Proficiency in configuring and tuning of systems, networks or databases.
• Proficiency in supporting a 24x7 operation.
• Mastery in AWS Networking. Proven skillset in latest AWS networking services and ability to create advanced routing and interconnectivity in a multi account strategy.
• Mastery in AWS Security, including incident response framework, shared security model, and architecture best practices for reducing attack surface.
• Advanced knowledge around AWS Disaster Recovery strategies. Ability to architect granular recoveries of distributed systems based on required RPO and RTO.
• Proficiency in operating system administration and troubleshooting, including Linux and Windows.
• Demonstrable skills with one of the Linux flavors, e.g. RHEL/CentOS/Ubuntu /SUSE
• Mastery traditional and Agile methodologies.
• Extensive knowledge around infrastructure as code and common frameworks including Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Demonstrable skillset in scripting languages, e.g. Bash, PowerShell
• Demonstrable skillset in programming languages, preferably JavaScript or Python.
• Experience working with AWS SDK for automating management of AWS infrastructure.
• Proven ability to migrate monolithic and COTS applications into AWS leveraging native services
