Job Title: Cardiothoracic Donor Procurement Surgeon Location : New York, New York Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Cardiothoracic Donor Procurement Surgeon to join a premier transplant program in New York. This role focuses on the surgical recovery of thoracic organs, including heart and lungs, and plays a critical part in life-saving transplant procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in cardiothoracic surgery, with a passion for donor management, organ preservation, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary transplant team. Key Responsibilities Perform donor procurement surgeries for thoracic organs, including heart and lungs Travel for organ recovery cases as part of an on-call procurement team Evaluate donor suitability in collaboration with transplant coordinators and physicians Ensure adherence to UNOS/OPTN guidelines and regulatory standards Collaborate closely with transplant surgeons, perfusionists, and OPO teams Maintain accurate documentation and participate in quality assurance initiatives Participate in program development and performance improvement efforts Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited institution Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery required Experience in donor procurement strongly preferred Eligible for or active New York medical license Strong surgical skills with the ability to work in high-pressure environments Willingness to travel and participate in a demanding on-call schedule Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary with additional call compensation Comprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision) Malpractice insurance with tail coverage Generous PTO and CME allowance Retirement plan with employer contribution Travel coverage for procurement cases Why New York?
