Essential Duties:

Comply with all rules, regulations, and policies as stated in the Trump National Golf Club - Los Angeles Employee Handbook, including working scheduled hours as designated by Department Manager.

Oversee and ensure the cleanliness and organizational integrity of the entire maintenance facility including the equipment, equipment storage, working areas, storage containers, tool storage area, and outer surroundings of maintenance facility.

• • Maintenance Facility should be kept clean and organized on a daily basis to ensure safety and efficiency.  This includes but not limited to: all workspaces, all equipment, tool, and storage areas.
  • Ensure Maintenance Facility is properly locked up prior to leaving for the day.  This includes equipment manager’s office, parts room, gasoline storage lockers, and all shop doors.  
  • Ensure all equipment is thoroughly cleaned and stored at end of shift.
  • Manage and offer recommendations for making repairs, upkeep, and upgrades to the Maintenance Facility to ensure the longevity, integrity, and functionality of the building.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for all equipment used in the Golf Course Maintenance Department based on budget and manufactures recommendations. This is to be recorded in an Excel or Word document.
• Perform all routine preventative maintenance and prioritizes curative maintenance, which is required to keep our equipment in sound/safe condition and readily available for use on golf course.
• Ensure mowers are being properly inspected for quality of cut and height of cut before being used on golf course.  This needs to be done every time reel machines are used.
• Sets up maintenance guidelines for seasonal (i.e. overseeding and aerifying) maintenance equipment and have all necessary equipment properly operating and functional for these tasks.
• Keep Superintendent advised on the status of repairs and pending costs.  Also indicate when it would be reasonable to consider replacement.
• Work with Superintendent to develop an annual operating budget for maintaining all equipment.
• Determine company vendors based on pricing, quality, and service.
• Research and test all new proposed equipment prior to purchase, including making a formal recommendation.  Communicate with supplier to demo equipment prior to purchase.
• Establish and efficiently maintain proper parts inventory levels. Manage the ordering and monitoring of tools, fuels, lubricants, repair parts, and shop supplies within budget. 
• Maintain up to date inventory list of all equipment.
• Comply with all CA state law and local agencies regarding safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous wastes.
• Training and delegating responsibilities for the Assistant Mechanic.
• • Train Assistant Mechanic how to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and fix equipment.
  • Train Assistant mechanic how to manage the Maintenance Facility in absence of Equipment Manager.
• Educate, instruct, and oversee all subordinate staff within the scope of their job duties which includes:
• • Thoroughly teach staff how to safely operate, properly clean & lubricate, and how to report damaged equipment.
• Participate in staff meeting regarding proper operating and maintenance practices of equipment.
• Participate in local and on-line continuing education outlined by Golf Course Superintendent.

Education/Experience: High school education required or equivalent experience.  Advanced mechanical education and/or technical education required.

Language Skills:  Will be required: to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos; to write correspondence, memos, and schedule; to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and staff.

Mathematical Skills: Able to perform basic mathematic calculations, calibrations, and able to convert and understand fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Reasoning Ability: Problem solving, reasoning, and “thinking out of the box” will be a constant requirement; in addition, applying common sense understanding better serve our guests’ needs – both our internal and external guests.

Physical Demands:  Ability to perform heavy physical labor. May be required to work in an environment that includes such activities such as continual bending, lifting, stooping, kneeling, climbing, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and grasping for up to four hours without sitting. May need to lift up to 100lbs occasionally and 50lbs frequently.

Vision Requirements:  Regularly uses close, distance, color, and peripheral vision as well as depth perception. Ability to adjust focus. 

Environment/Noise: Seasonally works in wet, cool conditions. Occasionally works in areas with moving mechanical parts; may come into contact with fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.  Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions.

Certificates/Licenses:   Valid California Driver’s License

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences  

• Ability to read and speak English may be required in order to perform the duties of the job.
• Computer skills to include proficiency with word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Demonstrated experience and capability in the areas of budget development, fiscal management, strategic planning, and staff management.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems; efficiently handle multiple duties under pressure with minimal supervision; work flexible hours as required including nights/weekends.
• Maintain a positive attitude, professional manner and appearance in all situations.
