Electrical Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Hardware Design and Testing Job Description
This role focuses on designing, developing, and validating electronic hardware and assemblies for advanced aerospace applications. You will contribute to the full lifecycle of electrical systems, from concept and design through testing, debugging, and verification, supporting innovative small satellite and flight hardware programs.
Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware and assemblies for aerospace and small satellite applications.
• Perform electrical testing, including functional tests, performance checks, and reliability assessments of hardware.
• Debug and troubleshoot electronic systems and components to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate closely with PCB layout engineers to ensure optimal board designs that meet electrical, mechanical, and environmental requirements.
• Create and refine wire harness designs, including connector selection, routing, and documentation for flight hardware.
• Conduct verification and validation activities to confirm that electrical systems meet design specifications, handling requirements, and mission needs.
• Support integration of electronic hardware into larger systems, ensuring compatibility with sensors, instrumentation, and spacecraft subsystems.
• Document designs, test procedures, and results in a clear and organized manner to support configuration control and future maintenance.
• Work with cross-functional teams in engineering and manufacturing to resolve issues and improve product quality and reliability.
• Adhere to flight hardware handling requirements and industry best practices to maintain safety, reliability, and compliance.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience in electrical engineering with a focus on hardware design and development.
• Proficiency in designing electronic hardware and assemblies for complex systems.
• Strong skills in electrical testing, including planning, executing, and documenting test activities.
• Experience with debugging and troubleshooting electronic circuits and systems.
• Ability to interface effectively with PCB layout, including understanding of board-level design constraints and best practices.
• Wire harness design experience, including familiarity with connectors, cabling standards, and routing considerations.
• Experience working with flight hardware handling requirements in an aerospace or similar high-reliability environment.
• Aerospace experience preferred, particularly in small satellites, space-based instrumentation, or related systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in working with miniaturized sensors or complex instrumentation is beneficial.
• Experience supporting verification and validation efforts for electronic systems is a plus.
• Familiarity with ground-based and space-based instrumentation and remote sensing concepts is advantageous.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing functions.
• Strong documentation skills for design records, test plans, and test reports.
• Interest in innovative technologies and pathfinding missions in challenging environments such as very low earth orbit (VLEO).

Work Environment
The role is based in an office and manufacturing environment that supports the design, build, and test of advanced aerospace hardware. You will work around electronics laboratories, integration areas, and production spaces where small satellite platforms, miniaturized sensors, and flight hardware are developed and assembled. The setting encourages collaboration with engineers and technicians, hands-on work with hardware, and participation in cutting-edge space missions, while maintaining high standards for safety, quality, and flight hardware handling.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $74.52/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
