SNAP-Ed Bilingual Nutrition Educator

This Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (SNAP-Ed) Bilingual Nutrition Educator will primarily be responsible for the delivery of established SNAP-Ed public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout the Long Island SNAP-Ed Region and Nassau County. This position will be based in the CCE Nassau County office. Travel throughout Brooklyn and Queens on a daily basis will be required. Occasional meetings in Suffolk County will also be required. This position will also include assisting with marketing efforts for SNAP-Ed programming in collaboration with other Nutrition Educators in the SNAP-Ed region. This is a 0.5-1.0 FTE grant-funded seasonal position. May-September 30, 2025.

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's Degree in the field of Nutrition, Health Education or Public Health or equivalent education (GED/High School Diploma and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience). Working towards Bachelors degree in the field of Nutrition or equivalent also accepted if 2+ years into degree.
• Nutrition background required.
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
• Ability to have flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
• Ability to transport/move supplies and equipment, climb stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in English.
• Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read and write proficiently) in Spanish, Bengali and/or Haitian-Creole. Other languages are welcome to apply.
• Ability to present effective educational lessons to target audiences and work with diverse audiences of all ages.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer and word processing skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with the community in which the work will take place and ability to utilize program resources within the community.

Salary: $25 per hour

Schedule: NONEXEMPT – TEMP: May 16, 2025 – October 1, 2025
