Trading Operations Engineer - Global Hedge Fund - Greenfield Team

About the Role

This role sits at the center of the firm's live electronic trading environment, monitoring order flow, execution systems, and exchange connectivity in real time. When markets are open, this person is one of the first to know if something is wrong, whether that's a stuck order, a feed disconnect, or an execution system behaving unexpectedly, and one of the first to fix it. Minutes of downtime here can mean missed fills, bad executions, or real P&L impact.

What You'll Do

• Monitor live trading systems across multiple venues and asset classes during market hours
• Diagnose and resolve issues with order routing, execution, and exchange connectivity in real time
• Maintain deep familiarity with FIX sessions and message flows to troubleshoot connectivity and execution issues
• Build and improve monitoring, alerting, and automation tools for the trading environment
• Act as the primary point of contact between trading desks, engineering, and exchanges during incidents
• Document incidents and drive root-cause fixes to prevent recurrence

Must-Haves

• Working knowledge of the FIX protocol and experience troubleshooting FIX sessions. This is non-negotiable for the role
• Experience supporting a live electronic trading environment
• Strong scripting skills (Python or bash) for monitoring and automation
• Ability to stay calm and methodical while troubleshooting under real-time market pressure
• Solid understanding of order types, market structure, and execution workflows

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience across multiple asset classes or exchange venues
• Direct exchange connectivity or market access experience
• Prior experience at a quant fund, prop trading firm, or trading technology vendor
• Familiarity with order management or execution management systems
