CNC Programmer

CNC ProgrammerA growing machine shop in the League City area is hiring for a CNC Programmer to join their manufacturing team on a contract-to-hire basis. The CNC Programmer will be responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs to produce precision parts efficiently, safely, and to customer specifications. This role works closely with machinists, engineering, and quality to ensure on-time delivery and continuous improvement. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years experience in writing and editing programs for fast paced machining environments and be diligent in reviewing programs after runs to ensure cycle times, edits, offsets, tooling, etc. is operating per program.Key ResponsibilitiesCreate, edit, and optimize CNC programs for milling and/or turning operationsInterpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and customer specificationsSelect appropriate tooling, fixturing, and machining strategiesSet up and prove out new jobs; support first-article inspectionsTroubleshoot machining and program-related issues to improve quality and cycle timesCollaborate with machinists and supervisors to improve processes and reduce scrapMaintain program documentation and revision controlEnsure work complies with safety, quality, and shop standardsSupport continuous improvement initiatives and cost reduction effortsRequired Qualifications3+ years of CNC programming experience in a machine shop environmentStrong knowledge of CNC mills and/or lathes (3-, 4-, or 5-axis a plus)Proficient with G-code and M-code programmingExperience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidCAM, or similar)Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&TStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skillsHigh attention to detail and qualityPreferred QualificationsExperience with multi-axis machining or complex surfacingFamiliarity with multiple CNC controls (Fanuc, Haas, Okuma, Mazak, etc.)Knowledge of tooling systems, cutting parameters, and materialsExperience in a job shop or high-mix, low-volume environmentAbility to train or mentor machinists and junior programmersPhysical & Work Environment RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsOccasionally lift up to 50 lbs.Work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, lubricants, and metal chipsCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive pay based on experienceHealth and dental insurancePaid time off and holidaysTraining and advancement opportunities
