Responsibilities As the Assistant Grocery Manager, you help customers make healthy food choices by providing excellent customer service through managing and leading one of the busiest teams in our store. Assist the Grocery Manager in managing and merchandising the department for maximum productivity and profit Responsible for ordering and inventory controls, product quality, and supervision of the Grocery team Effectively coordinate merchandising and sales through ongoing planning, direction, goal setting, communication, and teamwork Assist in leading a team that brainstorms to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest experience customers receive Assist in hiring, teaching, training, developing the Grocery Team Unload and sort through store deliveries Ensure execution of all company health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations, and validate that other Grocery team members also follow these procedures Work in a fast paced environment Qualifications Be at least 18 years of age and have 1-3 years retail management experience; familiarity with natural foods and alternative diets preferred Dependable, reliable, and able to work a flexible schedule that changes with business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays; walking up to 3 miles in 8 hours is expected Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and able to give and receive direction in a team environment Outward friendly behavior with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers Proven leadership ability to build, motivate, and maintain staff; working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals Strong focus on detail, analytical and problem solving skills Organizational and planning skills; able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks Must vertically transfer milk trays up to 60 lbs. from 9” to 62” for up to 25 hours Must vertically/horizontally transfer boxes up to 50 lbs. from 5” to 34” up to 5 feet for up to 25 hours without mechanical assistance Repetitive squatting, kneeling, bending to access a point 5 inches from the floor for up to 30 hours is expected Pay Range The pay range for this position is $17.05 - $23.85 / hour, based on applicable experience and qualifications.
