Education Program Manager/Counsel

Education Program Manager/Counsel Location: Ohio Judicial Center, 65 South Front Street, Columbus, Ohio 43215. Compensation: $100,000 – $114,000 per year. Schedule: Full-time. Union: Exempt from Union. Organization Supreme Court of Ohio. Job Description Design, develop, implement, and administer judicial education curricula for judges, magistrates, court personnel, and other audiences, including live and electronic courses. Provide legal research and analysis to support judicial education. Key Responsibilities Program Planning and Development: plan, design, and develop educational programs; conduct needs assessments; design curriculum with stakeholders; estimate costs, monitor expenses, and negotiate faculty fees; coordinate logistics; write course objectives; review and approve course content; request accreditation. Event Management: lead and support faculty and participants during educational events; host webinars; set up technology for in‑person events; supervise registration; resolve issues during sessions; gather feedback to improve future courses. Post‑Course Management: analyze course evaluations; integrate feedback; send thank‑you messages; ensure materials are archived; manage financial resources; analyze trends. Legal Research, Rule Analysis, and Education Administration: conduct research on statutes, case law, and court rules; assist in developing and reviewing educational resources; draft rule amendments, documents, processes, and contracts; advise staff on legal education needs and emerging issues. Collaboration and Process Improvement: participate in meetings to enhance processes, customer service, and educational offerings. Compliance and Contribution: contribute to procedures and policies and ensure compliance. Staff Supervisory Responsibilities None. Qualifications & Experience Juris Doctor from an accredited law school, with admission to the bar required within the first six months of employment. Must maintain active and good standing admission to the bar throughout employment. Progressive experience in education, law, court administration, public administration, legal research, or a related field. Knowledge of adult learning principles, judicial education, and/or instructional design. Competencies Course Development: ability to design, deliver, and evaluate courses, including needs assessments, learning objectives, and collaboration with faculty. Collaboration: ability to work effectively with colleagues, departments, and external partners. Program Management Acumen: ability to serve as subject matter advisor; design, implement, and oversee program frameworks; provide guidance on initiatives and risks. Legal Knowledge: demonstrable knowledge of legal principles; apply critical thinking and sound judgment. Legal Research: proficiency in analyzing statutes, case law, and regulations. Communication: exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Problem Solving: ability to troubleshoot and solve issues independently. Relationship Building: establish and maintain collaborative relationships. Customer Service: provide assistance and resolve problems. Analytical Thinking: logical assessment of complex issues. Skills Professional Skills: Attention to Detail, Written Communication, Verbal Communication. Technical Skills: Attorney/Legal, Education. Physical Requirements Work in an office environment with standard office equipment. May require bending, standing, reaching, and occasionally lifting materials up to 20 pounds. Regular communication and information exchange required. Travel Requirements Requires ability to work extended hours and travel on court business, including overnight stays. A valid driver’s license is required. Court Expectations of Employee Adhere to all Court policies, guidelines, practices, and procedures. Act as a role model inside and outside the Court. Exhibit a professional manner in dealing with others. Maintain constructive working relationships. Maintain a positive and respectful approach with superiors, colleagues, and individuals both inside and outside the Court. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
