Job Description Movement Disorders Neurologist (MD/DO) Position Summary The Movement Disorders Neurologist provides specialized neurologic care for patients with disorders affecting movement and motor control. This role focuses on the evaluation, diagnosis, and longitudinal management of complex movement disorders using evidence-based medical, procedural, and multidisciplinary approaches to optimize patient function and quality of life. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Evaluate and manage patients with movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, essential tremor, dystonia, Huntington disease, chorea, tics, and gait disorders Perform comprehensive neurologic assessments and develop individualized treatment plans Manage pharmacologic therapies for movement disorders and monitor treatment response Perform office-based procedures consistent with training and privileges, such as botulinum toxin injections for dystonia, spasticity, and tremor Provide outpatient movement disorders clinic care and inpatient neurology consultation services as needed Interpret diagnostic studies including neuroimaging and laboratory testing relevant to movement disorders Collaborate with neurosurgery, neuropsychology, rehabilitation medicine, physical therapy, speech therapy, and behavioral health teams Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and care planning meetings Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and disease progression Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicable Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards Qualifications Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school Completion of an accredited Neurology residency program Completion of an accredited Movement Disorders fellowship Board-eligible or board-certified in Neurology Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure DEA registration or eligibility Skills and Competencies Expertise in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders Strong clinical judgment and longitudinal disease management skills Proficiency with procedural therapies for movement disorders Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities Ability to manage chronic, progressive neurologic conditions Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care Work Environment Outpatient movement disorders clinics and neurology practices with possible inpatient consultation responsibilities Schedule typically includes weekday clinic hours with limited call depending on practice model Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout clinical environments Manual dexterity for neurologic examinations and office-based procedures Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for patient assessment and diagnostic interpretationaa415a4b-8b21-40fc-a65c-70d2b25ca29a
