Job Description:

The Department of Marketing in the W. P. Carey School of Business is seeking a highly organized, execution-driven, self-starter to provide program management for the department, with a strong emphasis on its highly regarded Sports Business Program. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills and thrive in a flexible, multitasking environment. Working independently under general direction and as part of a collaborative team, the successful candidate will provide essential backup support and assistance wherever needed.

This position plays an important role in helping faculty and other staff members advance the department and enhance the success of our students, with a particular focus on our Sports Business students.

Salary Range: $61,400-$72,500 to commensurate with experience

Essential Duties:

Corporate Advisory Board Governance & Executive Engagement

• Partner with the Faculty Director of the Sports Business Program to develop the strategy, administration, and ongoing success of the Corporate Advisory Board.

• Help recruit, onboard, and retain high-caliber advisory board members aligned with organizational priorities and strategic growth in partnership with the Faculty Director of the Sports Business Program and the Department Chair.

• Help develop and execute board engagement strategies, including meeting planning, communications, and member recognition.

• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders to advance organizational objectives.

Event Strategy & Execution Leadership

• Lead full lifecycle planning and execution of Sports Business Program events and Department of Marketing events as needed.

• Develop project timelines, manage logistics, and ensure seamless on-site event execution.

• Serve as primary on-site event lead, managing setup, vendor coordination, registration, and real-time troubleshooting.

• Assist with creating and managing sponsorship and membership invoices.

Program Operations & Visibility

• Develop and implement integrated social media strategies to strengthen the Sports Business Program’s visibility, engagement and reputation across digital platforms.

• Oversee planning, content strategy and maintenance of various social media platforms.

• Support marketing and promotional efforts, including website updates, social media coordination, and event materials.

• Engage in Sports Business group travel coordination for program-related activities.

• Contribute to continuous improvement of program processes and participant experience.

• Maintain organized records and reporting systems.

Desired Qualifications:

• 3+ years of sports business-related experience with strong sports industry connections.

• 3+ years of expertise related to marketing

• Experience collaborating with corporate clients, sponsors, and internal and external stakeholders in a team-oriented environment.

• 2+ years developing and executing complex, multi-stakeholder events.

• Demonstrated experience creating event marketing materials and digital communications, including social media strategies and content.

• Experience in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with faculty, staff, students and community members.

• Strong project management and logistical coordination skills.

• Exceptional communication skills.

• Ability to demonstrate problem solving and initiative in fast-paced environments.

• Expertise with event management, financial, marketing, or CRM systems preferred (e.g., Workday, Concur, Stova, Canva, Adobe, Google Forms, Qualtrics, etc.).

Working Environment:

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (25%).
