Neurodiagnostic Tech II - Epilepsy Monitoring FT (Days)(Mon - Thurs) Galveston, Texas, United States New Allied Health UTMB Health Requisition # 2604094 Required Education / Experience Associates degree from a Commission on Accrediditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) accredited Electroneurodiagnostic (END) or related program or equivalent. Three (3) years experience performing procedures in area of competence. Credentialed through a UTMB approved agency in R. EEG T., CNIM, R.NCS.T., R. EP.T., or CLTM. Current BLS certification. Job Description To provide advanced technical skills necessary to perform one or more of the following Electroneurodiagnostic procedures: electroencephalogram (EEG), intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), long term monitoring (LTM), evoked potential (EP), and nerve conduction studies (NCV). Serves as preceptor and mentor for Neurodiagnostic Technologist I. Essential Job Functions Establish lab protocols according to American Clinical Neurophysiology Society (ACNS) Guidelines. Participate in tutoring, demonstrating, and mentoring other team members. Perform Electroneurodiagnostic studies as per written protocols. Explain procedures to patient, elicit and record medical history from patient and/or chart. Apply standard scalp electrodes to meet the standard 10/20 placement. Record the studies and independently make alteration of the test protocol based on history and on the ongoing study. Recognize normal and abnormal variants in study recording and act accordingly. Recognize and correct electrical and electronic malfunction. Monitor and review raw study and video data. Prepare the completed hard copy of neurodiagnostic studies for interpretation. Complete the “Technician Impression” sheet which serves as the preliminary report. Edit and archive EEG and video data of patients’ Video/EEG monitoring. Competently perform routine inpatient and outpatient neurodiagnostic procedures. Set up and provide assistance with area specific neurodiagnostic procedures. Provide for patient safety related to age and condition. Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. Provide and maintain a clean, safe environment, free of obstacles, and conducive to a professional environment. Maintain isolation procedures and follow infection control measures. Maintain patient care areas with appropriate supplies and equipment. Notify the Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist and/or on-coming staff when equipment is missing or broken. Assist with patient requests for other hospital services.
