Quality Assurance InspectorThe quality assurance inspector supports the department of government contracts quality assurance activities and projects and provides support to the quality assurance manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Schedule checkpoints between Prime, Government and Subcontractors.Draft Test and Inspection Reports in support of documenting final test results on multiple class Ships.Observe Marine Group welders performing various weld procedures and documents their proficiency if their respective qualification binders.Upload required reports and test and inspection documents in Navy Maintenance Data base.Review and update each ship's Test and Inspection PlanAttend daily production meetings providing updated information regarding equipment and systems testing.Conduct Product verification InspectionsSupports QA Manager in all testing and inspection plansCommunicates and coordinates needed inspection status with all supervisorsReview Process Control Procedures for accuracy, approve, and submit to the Government for approval.Conduct in process and work complete surveillance on welding and flushing PCPsOther duties as assignedRequirements:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and/or Experience:1-3 years of previous work experience in quality assurance or a shipyard trade preferred.High School Diploma or equivalent.Knowledge and understanding of basic blueprint drawings.Knowledge of maritime terminology or government contracts.Excellent communication skills written and verbal.Problem Solving/Analysis.Knowledge of OSHA Shipyard SafetyMust demonstrate skills in QA organization, shipbuilding/repair disciplinesStrong computer skillsASNT VT Certified a plusAWS CWI a plusKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are requiredAbility to read and interpret documents and instructionsAbility to take directions and follow instructionsAbility to perform work accurately and thoroughlyAbility to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basisStrong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a teamWork Authorization/Security ClearanceCompletion of a satisfactory background check.Passing a drug test and physical examinationEligibility to work in the US.Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.Language Ability:Ability to communicate effectively in EnglishReasoning Ability:Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedulePhysical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job are medium/heavy in nature.Frequent standing, balancing, walking, climbing ladders or equipment, reaching above shoulder or out in front, manual dexterity, pushing, pulling, kneeling, bending, seeing, hearing and occasionally lowering self into confined spaces, crawling through small openings and working in reclined positions, as needed.Physical ability to lift, push, pull and carry 50+ lbs., bend, stoop and climb scaffold and ork on elevated work surfaces, beams, ladders, and confined spaces.While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, talk or hear.The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.Works in all areas of the shipyard and on-board ships.Hearing warning signals and reading and comprehending safety instructions.Must be able to maintain general safety awareness and avoid hazards commonly present in employee's work area.Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection.
