Job Description The S1B Power Plant Mechanical and Technology Subdivision (PMN) is looking for an Associate Engineer to join our team supporting delivery of the United States Navy COLUMBIA Class submarines. The team has the primary responsibility to design and analyze propulsion plant fluid systems and equipment. PMN engineers provide expert technical support to the United States Navy during ship design, construction, testing, and operations. PMN engineers issue high-quality technical products, develop solutions to emergent testing issues, and provide proactive development of propulsion plant system improvements. PMN is seeking highly motivated engineers and scientists to support this mission and experience the fast-paced work of new construction. Responsibilities include: Become an expert in propulsion plant systems, operations, and design. Provide resolution of construction and testing technical issues. Lead design changes to include developing detailed designs, test procedures and operating manuals. Prioritize and manage tasks to ensure technical deliverables meet schedules and budgets. Facilitate a strong and productive teaming environment with related organizations both internal and external to the company. Write and review formal technical?recommendations. Interact with company management, shipyard personnel, Navy representatives, and specialists within the company to advance a unified technical direction. Drive innovation to improve steam and reactor plant system performance and operation. Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field. Preferred Skills Thermal and fluid system design and analysis experience. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts. Experience working effectively on teams. Experience writing technical reports. Project management skills to prioritize and schedule work. Pay Range $63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually Salary information provided is a general guideline only.
