Position Summary

The Physician (Radiation Oncologist) is responsible for delivering comprehensive radiation oncology services including patient evaluation, treatment planning, image guidance review, advanced radiation delivery, multidisciplinary collaboration, documentation, and participation in educational and quality assurance initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Evaluate new consultations, follow-up patients, simulations, and on-treatment visits.
• Review medical records, diagnostic imaging, pathology, and outside medical documentation.
• Develop evidence-based treatment plans utilizing national treatment guidelines.
• Treat patients with breast, genitourinary, thoracic, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, hematologic, CNS, head and neck, and benign conditions.
• Perform and interpret nasopharyngoscopy.
• Deliver SBRT, SABR, SRS, FSRT, Total Body Irradiation, IMRT, VMAT, 3D conformal therapy, electron therapy, DIBH, and 4DCT-based treatments.
• Obtain informed consent and supervise simulation procedures.
• Complete contouring within three working days and review treatment plans within one working day.
• Review daily image guidance including CBCT, portal imaging, marker matching, and kV imaging.
• Conduct weekly chart rounds and monitor treatment toxicities.
• Participate in multidisciplinary tumor conferences.
• Evaluate patients for clinical trial eligibility.
• Complete all clinical documentation within three working days.
• Follow CDC infection prevention guidelines and facility protocols.
• Participate in resident education, medical student instruction, and staff education.
• Support quality assurance studies, peer review activities, and departmental committees.
• Coordinate referrals with civilian providers when appropriate.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited Radiation Oncology residency.
• Board Certified by the American Board of Radiology (ABR).
• Active Mississippi medical license.
• Minimum of 24 months of Radiation Oncology experience within the previous three years.
• Demonstrated competency with SBRT, SABR, SRS, FSRT, TBI, IMRT, VMAT, Electron Therapy, DIBH, and 4DCT.
• Ability to independently manage complex oncology patients.

Preferred Qualifications

• Military or VA healthcare experience.
• Academic teaching experience.
• Clinical trial participation.
• Experience with multidisciplinary oncology programs.
