Company Description One Small Step, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping children, families, and individuals living in poverty lead more productive lives by providing quality clothing, shoes, hygiene items, and related support services. Through programs such as Clothes Cabin, the organization offers free clothing and basic linens to community members who are unable to purchase these items on their own. Additional programs support people experiencing homelessness with mailboxes, storage lockers, and weekly laundry, and assist job seekers with interview and work attire, including specialized footwear. One Small Step also partners with other local agencies to share clothing donations that exceed its needs or do not meet its distribution standards. The organization’s vision is that no person or family in its service area lacks the clothing needed for employment, education, health, and social inclusion. Role Description The Program Coordinator is a part-time, on-site role based in Gilbert, AZ, responsible for supporting the daily operations of One Small Step’s programs, including Clothes Cabin, Homeless Assistance, Back to Work, and Share Partners. This position coordinates client appointments and visits, ensures smooth distribution of clothing and support services, and maintains accurate records and basic demographic data for reporting and grant purposes. The Program Coordinator will collaborate with staff and volunteers to organize inventory, manage program schedules, and facilitate referrals to partner agencies and community resources. Day-to-day tasks include greeting and assisting clients, answering questions, providing program information, and helping maintain a welcoming, well-organized environment. The role also supports continuous improvement of program processes and helps implement new initiatives aligned with the organization’s mission. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong Program Management and Program Development skills to coordinate services, support multiple initiatives, and improve program processes. Candidates should possess effective Communication skills, including clear verbal and written communication and the ability to interact with diverse clients, staff, volunteers, and partners. Candidates should possess Customer Service skills to provide respectful, empathetic, and solution-focused support to individuals and families in need. Candidates should possess Project Management skills to organize tasks, manage timelines, and ensure successful execution of program activities and events. Candidates should have strong organizational and time management abilities, with attention to detail in recordkeeping and reporting. Candidates should demonstrate reliability, professionalism, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and trauma-informed, nonjudgmental client service. Experience in nonprofit, social services, or community-based programs is beneficial; familiarity with poverty-related issues and resource navigation is a plus.
