Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Position Summary The Clinical Nutrition Specialist is primarily responsible for CHS nutrition primary prevention programming activities and the provision of clinical nutrition counseling for students, post‑doctoral fellows, and eligible spouses. The position requires excellent clinical skills in the management of eating disorders and medical nutrition therapy for conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, endocrine disorders, lipid disorders, and other medical nutrition disorders, as well as skills in weight‑management counseling using a ‘non‑diet’ approach. The Specialist will collaborate with Student Wellness staff to promote nutrition programming activities, work with student groups focusing on positive body image and other college eating concerns, and provide integrated nutrition service delivery across campus in partnership with sports nutritionists and dining services nutritionists. Opportunities for teaching activities inside and outside the classroom through a secondary faculty appointment are available. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Certificate in Diabetes Education or willingness to become certified. Registered Dietitian in the State of North Carolina. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to exercise sound independent judgement. Ability to work collaboratively and strategically in a team environment with all levels of professionals. Experience working with an electronic health record (EHR). Experience working with diverse undergraduate and graduate/professional student, faculty, or staff communities that reflect an array of ethnic, racial, cultural, faith, gender, and other identities. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Two (2) years of experience in providing nutrition education and one‑on‑one counseling, including at least two years of experience with eating disorder clients.
