About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: OB Duration: 8 Weeks Shift: 7A-7P Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery License: Active nursing license Certifications: BLS ACLS NRP Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring STABLE (must complete within 30 days of start) Must-Have: Experience with all phases of Labor and Postpartum care Experience with care of well babies Description: ASAP start needed. The facility has a Level III Nursery with 200 births per year. The unit includes 4 Labor beds and 4 Postpartum beds. Traveler must be comfortable with all phases of care, including Antepartum, Intrapartum, and Postpartum/Couplet care. Must provide care for well babies. Experience with post-partum hemorrhage, pre-eclampsia, HELLP, bilirubin conditions, NAS, and feeders/growers is required. Flexibility to care for Med/Surg patients in low acuity situations requiring IV Antibiotics, swing bed, or rehab care is essential. No infectious patients or telemetry monitoring are present. Average patient ratios are 1:2-3 for Med/Surg. Low volume of deliveries with an average of 200 per year. The facility uses a rooming-in model with no dedicated Nursery. Nurses will care for babies as well as mothers. Patient ratios are based on established guidelines: 1:2 for laboring patients, 1:1 for active labor, 1:3-4 for couplets, and 1:2-3 for Med/Surg patients. Support on the unit includes at least 2 nurses overnight and 3 nurses during peak times. There is no CNA coverage. A Health Unit Coordinator is available 4 days per week. A midwife provides most of the care with OB support available as needed. Charting is conducted using an EMR system. Floating may occur to task-only areas, no patient assignments will be taken. Weekend rotations are every other week, with no call duty requirements. Holiday expectations include every other holiday. Approval for time off will require manager authorization. Scrub color must be professional; procedural scrubs will be provided for OR only.
