BCBA Clinical Supervisor

Job Summary This position requires an experienced BCBA with extensive experience and advanced training in the assessment and treatment of severe challenging behavior within a residential setting. Requirements include advanced expertise in functional analysis, empirically validated behavior reduction strategies, reinforcement-based interventions, crisis management, and staff training/support. The candidate must maintain the ability to lead a highly engaged, collaborative, and accountable behavioral support team while ensuring compliance with regulatory, ethical, and best practice standards for intensive behavioral services in a residential setting. Successful candidates design, implement, and monitor comprehensive behavior support plans informed by functional assessment data. They demonstrate expertise in addressing severe challenging behavior including aggression, self‑injurious behavior, property destruction, elopement, and other high‑risk behaviors. The BCBA prioritizes safety, trauma‑informed care, skill acquisition, independence, and improved quality of life. Interventions focus on reducing the need for restrictive practices. Responsibilities Conduct, administer, evaluate, and oversee comprehensive behavioral assessments (e.g., PFA, Vineland, AFLS and other relevant tools) to identify strengths, needs, and behavioral functions of individuals in high‑behavior‑needs group home settings. Use assessment findings to develop individualized behavior support plans, guide function‑based interventions, skill acquisition goals, and support strategies promoting safe independence across home, community, and structured program environments. Essential Duties People We Serve (50%) Ensure appropriate behavioral data systems are implemented such that quantifiable behavioral data are collected at regular intervals to allow continual evaluation of behavior plans and achievement of individual goals. Ensure utilization of clinically recommended service hours. Complete all necessary documentation in a timely and satisfactory manner as stated in AbleLight’s Good Documentation Policy and/or as requested by Director of Behavioral Services. Develop and write comprehensive reports documenting behavioral recommendations for guardians, caregivers, and agency personnel accurately and timely. Maintain availability to respond to needs of the persons served, providing consultation and on‑site assistance in behavior crisis situations. Respond to referrals for service in a timely and appropriate manner. Meet regularly with Director of Behavioral Services; immediately notify on issues impacting progress and satisfaction. Training and Development (30%) Teach management staff and DSPs on proper implementation of reinforcement, initiative‑taking, and preventative behavior programs and plans, data collection systems and all necessary monitoring and reporting systems. Conduct regular caregiver and/or staff training and consultation. Perform monthly BT/RBT integrity checks and provide timely and compassionate feedback. Demonstrate leadership that results in low attrition among technicians and RBTs working with individuals with significant, complex behavior needs. Leadership (15%) Act as a role model for behavior technicians, RBTs, and practicum students; align the passion and talents of others to serve the people we support by actively developing others, empowering teams, promoting collaboration, removing barriers, and showing recognition and appreciation, all to attract and retain top talent. Participate in AbleLight leadership processes in Talent Acquisition and Quarterly Connections. Receive and apply constructive feedback; communicate independently when additional support is needed. Professional Development (5%) Participate in professional meetings or conferences as required by the director of behavioral services and as required by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or by state rules and regulations to maintain certification, licensure, and/or provider status. Maintain required training to include any necessary crisis management procedures in the behavior plans as needed. Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities for Success in the Role Strong knowledge and deep understanding of the science of behavior analysis and its successful implementation within a residential setting. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and influence project outcomes without direct supervisory authority, addressing challenges promptly and professionally. Skilled in developing and delivering training and presentations to leadership and project team members. Capable of working independently with minimal supervision while also contributing effectively within a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and industry‑standard productivity applications and project management software. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with effective presentation abilities and a professional presence. Minimum Job Qualifications Education Master’s degree or higher in applied behavior analysis, psychology, education, or a closely related field with completed coursework that meets the BACB requirements for BCBA certification. Current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the BACB, or eligibility to sit for the BCBA exam within a defined timeframe. Experience 5–7 years of experience working in intensive behavioral environments such as residential programs, crisis stabilization settings, specialized schools, or programs serving individuals with significant developmental disabilities and complex behavioral needs. 5–7 years of experience supporting individuals with lifelong disabilities in a residential setting. 5–7 years of experience supervising highly engaged and effective teams. Strong knowledge of BACB ethical standards, trauma‑informed practices, and regulatory requirements related to intensive behavioral services in residential settings. License or Certifications State licensure as required by state of residence. BCBA certification in good standing. Physical Demands Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to use the keyboard and computer for a minimum of seven hours per day. Ability to work irregular hours as needed. Local and overnight travel, up to 15% of time.
