Journalism, Communications, and English majors are highly encouraged to apply. Primary Duties Pitch and write original news articles, features, or multimedia stories. Contribute photography to accompany stories or editorial assignments. Assist with researching and gathering information for ongoing stories. Conduct interviews (phone, video, or in‑person). Support fact‑checking and proofreading processes. Collaborate with editors and multimedia teams. Attend department meetings and contribute story ideas. Help manage content for digital platforms and social media. Monitor current events, with particular attention to New Mexico, and propose relevant story ideas. Minimum Qualifications Enrolled in a degree‑seeking program at UNM, enrolled at least half‑time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, must meet satisfactory academic progress. Preferred Qualifications Pursuing or recently completed a degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field. Strong writing, grammar, and storytelling skills. Curiosity and passion for news, current events, and media. Ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Basic understanding of AP Style.
