Plant Maintenance Mechanic

Our client is the world leader in Sulphur industries, and is looking to grow one of their plants in Stockton, CA with military talent.

If you have served as a mechanic, equipment operator, utilities technician, engineer, electrician, generator technician, HVAC technician, aircraft mechanic, shipboard engineer, construction mechanic, or maintenance specialist, your experience may be a strong fit for this position.

They are looking for someone who is comfortable troubleshooting equipment, performing preventive maintenance, responding to equipment failures, maintaining tools and parts, documenting maintenance, and keeping an industrial facility operational.

You do not need to have held the exact civilian job title of "Plant Maintenance Mechanic." As they value the skills and experience you gained maintaining mission-critical equipment and facilities in the military.

What You'll Do:

As the Plant Maintenance Mechanic, you will help keep the plant, equipment, and facility operating safely and reliably.

Your responsibilities will include:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and facility systems.

The ideal candidate is someone who can take ownership of a maintenance mission and work independently.

You should be comfortable:

Diagnosing problems and determining the appropriate repair.

Prioritizing multiple maintenance requirements.

Working independently with limited supervision.

Responding to unexpected equipment failures.

Maintaining accurate records and documentation.

Communicating effectively with coworkers, supervisors, contractors, and vendors.

Reading technical information, manuals, drawings, and instructions.

Using computers for basic maintenance documentation and communication.

Using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and cutting equipment.

Working safely in an industrial environment.

Working evenings, weekends, and responding to call-ins when required.

Physical Requirements:

This position requires the ability to:

Stand and walk for extended periods.

Lift up to 50 pounds.

Climb ladders and work at heights of up to 90 feet.

Work in an industrial plant environment.

Perform maintenance in a variety of positions and locations.

Safely operate mobile equipment such as forklifts.

Perform welding, cutting, mechanical repair, and other hands-on maintenance tasks.

Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform emergency repairs when equipment fails.

Conduct routine equipment inspections and identify deficiencies before they become major problems.

Respond to maintenance issues during plant operating hours and help minimize equipment downtime.

Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, schedules, and documentation.

Maintain an organized inventory of critical spare parts, tools, supplies, and equipment.

Order parts and supplies and work with vendors and contractors to obtain needed services and materials.

Coordinate with contractors and monitor their work for safety, quality, reliability, appearance, and cost.

Participate in regular maintenance meetings with plant management and other team members.

Perform facility maintenance such as painting, corrosion control, building repairs, and general upkeep.

Operate mobile equipment, including forklifts, as needed.

Occasionally fill in for plant operators when staffing requires.

Complete special maintenance, repair, fabrication, and improvement projects within your skill set. Job 59392
